A Botox treatment in Montreal costs between $500-$800. This range is closer to the average cost with some treatments falling below and some above the range. There are a few reasons why there is such variability in the cost of Botox treatments.

Botox Pricing Variability

Reasons why your investment can vary:

  1. The number of areas you treat will impact the cost. Some patients treat 1-2 areas such as the forehead lines and glabella (frown lines) and others treat 4-5 areas such as the forehead, glabella, crow’s feet, upper lip, and nose (bunny lines).
  2. The number of units will impact the cost as well. Botox is measured in units.  It is how an injector would “dose” your treatment once they have evaluated your needs and tailored the treatment to your face.
  3. The credentials, expertise and experience of the injector will also have an impact on cost. A board certified cosmetic dermatologist with decades of experience will charge more than a less seasoned dermatologist, a general practitioner, or a nurse injector.

Injections of Botox are highly technique-sensitive and require not only mastery of underlying anatomical structures but also years of experience to have truly fine-tuned injection methods for optimal results.

What are the top 3 areas for Botox?

The realm of Botox for cosmetic purposes has evolved greatly over the last few decades yet the popularity for its transformative effects still remain greatly focused on the forehead lines, frown lines (glabella) and the outer eye lines (crow’s feet).  These lines can either be dynamic or static.

Dynamic wrinkles are a natural part of facial expressions. They form when you use your facial muscles, appearing when you smile, frown, or show surprise. Unlike static wrinkles, which are visible even when your face is at rest, dynamic wrinkles only show up with movement. They are often referred to as “expression lines.” Over time, and with repeated expressions, these wrinkles can become more pronounced conveying fatigue or an “aged” appearance.

Treating dynamic wrinkles before they become static could prevent the lines from becoming deeper or visible at rest. Nonetheless, even static lines can become smoother. A testament to how Botox can actually reverse wrinkles.

Horizontal Forehead Lines

The lines that run horizontally along your forehead are referred to as forehead lines. They are expression lines that are caused by repetitive actions such as raising your eyebrows and may convey fatigue.

Frown Lines (Glabella aka number 11’s)

The lines that appear between your eyebrows are referred to as frown lines or # 11’s and are caused by the repetitive action of frowning. These lines can communicate anger or worry.

The Outer Eye Lines (Crow’s feet)

The lines that appear at the outer corners of the eye are referred to as crow’s feet and from repeated facial expressions such as squinting, laughing and smiling.  The presence of these wrinkles makes you look older due to the textural irregularities. Smoother skin around the eyes does transmit a more youthful appearance.

How long does Botox last for?

Botox for aesthetics usually lasts 3-4 months although some patients may find it wears off faster and others may benefit from longer lasting results. Further, areas with a lot of muscular activity like the forehead and around the mouth may tend to have the effect wear off faster.

The effect of Botox wears off progressively over time and not all of a sudden. Think of Botox like the battery in your mobile phone or laptop. When you first charge it, the battery is at 100%. As you use the device, the battery level doesn’t suddenly drop to 0%; instead, it gradually decreases over time until you need to charge it again. For example, if you have treated your 11’s with Botox, your muscles are relaxed and your ability to contract (frown) is limited. As the temporary inhibitory effect diminishes, the progressive restoration of muscle activity will allow you to frown ever so slightly. Eventually, left untreated, your ability to contract your muscles will fully return to normal.

Just as there could be factors impacting the life of your mobile or laptop battery, there are factors influencing the duration of Botox.

Factors Influencing Botox Duration

The longevity of BOTOX® Cosmetic is influenced by several factors. Individual metabolism, determined by age, health, and metabolic speed, plays a crucial role. Stronger, more active muscles tend to process BOTOX® quicker, while the dosage, technique, and placement of the injection also determine its lasting power. Regular treatments can prolong effects, but external elements like UV exposure and lifestyle choices can impact results.

What is a unit of Botox?

Botox is not just about beauty; it’s a science. Once you understand how it is prepared and measured, you can grasp the concept of units and dosing, particularly for your own treatment recommendations.

  • Form of Botox: Botox is shipped to medical facilities as lyophilized powder, meaning it’s freeze-dried.
  • Reconstitution: Before use, injectors convert the powder into an injectable liquid. They add sterile saline to the Botox vial to get the right potency and volume.  The right dilution technique is crucial.
  • Measurement: Once prepared, Botox is measured in “units.” These units quantify the biological effect: the effect on the muscle to prevent it from contracting.  Units are then drawn out of the vial for injection

In the context of cosmetic procedures, the number of Botox units is customized to your specific needs. The number of units, also referred to as the “dose/dosage” varies depending on factors such as the area of treatment, gender, the strength of the facial muscles, and individual goals.

Voilà! Now when you are evaluating how much Botox in Montreal costs you will be able to better assess all aspects of your investment based on how many units are required to treat each area you desire addressing.

What does 40 units of Botox cover?

40 units could potentially cover 2-3 of the top areas Botox is indicated for: the forehead, the crows feet and the glabella (frown lines). Here are some examples:

Patient A

A 35 year-old woman would like to try Botox for the first time to prevent dynamic lines from getting deeper in her upper face. Upon examination and a discussion about her goals, the injector doses her as follows:

  • Forehead: 4 units
  • Crow’s Feet: 8 units per side
  • Glabella: 20 units
  • Total: 40 units

Investment: 40 units of Botox can cost roughly $ 500-700 depending on the injector and the geographical location.

Patient B

A 55 year-old man would like to treat his deep static lines on his forehead, glabella and crow’s feet. His muscles in those areas are larger and stronger thus requiring higher doses to effectively relax the muscles.

  • Forehead: 10 units
  • Crow’s Feet: 15 units per side
  • Glabella: 30 units
  • Total:  70 units

Investment: 70 units of Botox can cost roughly $ 800- $1100 depending on the injector and the geographical location.

Tailoring the dosage/units to your needs, goals and facial features is the most important element that will influence how happy you are with your results. Selecting whom to trust with your face is a critical decision.

Is 20 units of Botox a lot?

No, it is not a lot. If you have very specific needs such as Botox around the mouth to treat upper/lower lip lines 20 units is more than enough. Other advanced indications such as treating bunny lines to smooth out nose wrinkles or the chin area to reduce chin dimpling will also fall under the 20 unit radar. However, full facial rejuvenation (forehead, glabella, crow’s feet) will require closer to 40-60 units.

Areas typically below 20 units

  • Horizontal Forehead Lines
  • Brow Lift
  • Bunny Lines
  • DAO (Depressor Anguli Oris)
  • Peri-oral (around the mouth)

Be weary of an injector who promises to deliver full facial rejuvenation with 20 units of Botox. If you consult a highly experienced injector with a proven and established track record, you can be confident that their success is due to the fact that they are professional and trustworthy. You should not have to worry about whether or not your injector has dosing proficiency.

How Much is Botox for the forehead?

Let’s clarify what the forehead refers to so the pricing is clear.

  • Forehead lines run horizontally along the forehead and appear due to raising one’s’ eyebrows
  • Glabellar lines, or the 11’s,  are in between the eyebrows and appear from repetitive frowning

The Botox injection price for the horizontal lines is approximately $250. The frown lines usually start at $350. You may be surprised by this since the forehead lines seem to cover more of an area than the frown lines, but the explanation lies in the difference of muscle anatomy and strength as well as the muscles involved in causing the contractions.

As the two areas are intimately connected anatomically speaking, an expert injector will be able to guide you through the best approach to smooth away wrinkles both your horizontal and vertical (11’s) forehead lines.

How much is 4 areas of Botox?

It depends on many factors. As you can see, all areas are not created equal and all patients are not created equal. Providing pricing for 4 Botox areas is imprecise due to the expansive list of cosmetic indications.

Pricing of “4 areas” would consist of very wide ranges due to the following:

  • Patients have varying goals
  • Muscle strength and size varies greatly
  • Some areas require very few units and others much more
  • There is variability in pricing per unit
  • There is great variability in dosing and expertise

If you are researching Botox in Montreal, the price ranges per area you are interested in will provide more valuable information. It is great to be informed so that when you schedule your consultation to discuss your desired outcomes, you have practical knowledge regarding the intricacies of dosing recommendations.

Example of 4 areas

A popular treatment for a woman in her 50’s could be as follows:

  • Forehead: 5 units
  • Glabella: 25 units
  • Crow’s feet: 12 units per side (24 total)
  • Upper lip: 5 units

Total: 59 units

Investment Range: $700-$1000 depending on the injector

Now imagine that the dosing changes completely for another patient, so would the range. Further, consider any possible combination of other areas (chin, brow, nose,..etc) and you realize how dosing possibilities, and thus the investment, become infinite.

How much is Botox for Masseter Reduction?

The procedure for masseter reduction is typically between $450-$900. This is due to the fact that people will require different doses to achieve the desired goal.

Why treat the masseter muscle

The prominent appearance of a lower jaw due to activities such as chewing, teeth clenching, or grinding can lead to hypertrophy of the masseter muscle, altering the face’s natural aesthetics. This can cause tension, pain, and headaches. Intramuscular injections of Botox can offer both functional relief and cosmetic enhancements.

The treatment essentially relaxes the muscles, reducing their overuse. As the muscles relax over the weeks post-procedure, the jaw-line becomes slimmer and presents a smoother contour, offering a non-surgical solution to achieving a refined lower facial appearance.

If you would like to treat your Masseter with Botox in Montreal, consult with Dr. Manish Khanna FRCPC as the procedure demands knowledge, precision, and expertise. Accurate assessment to determine candidacy, the correct dosage for optimal results, and precise injection locations to ensure safety and efficacy cannot be underestimated.
